Back of House is a brand new hospitality podcast hosted by industry legend Luke Butler and Time Out Australia MD Michael Rodrigues
One of the challenges caused by Sydney’s night-time atrophy is an increasing talent shortage in hospitality. As shifts dry up, hospitality workers migrate out of the city, or out of the industry. Pockets of work to break that cycle are beginning to appear, but reversing it won’t be easy.
In hospitality, more than in any other industry, I reckon workers see themselves opening their own venue or starting their own business one day. So together with industry veteran Luke Butler I’ve started the Back of House podcast, to attempt to surface and celebrate inspiring Australian hospitality stories.
Each week, we interview industry luminaries and ask them to tell stories that we believe will inspire the next generation of hospitality to continue their traditions. Guests to date include co-owner and creative force behind Gelato Messina, Declan Lee, Danielle Allen of Two Birds Brewing, and former CEO and co-founder of Riversdale Group, Paddy Coughlan.
