Geelong Arts Centre is offering grants for emerging artists of all abilities and backgrounds

The new round of grants offers support for positive risk-taking in the arts

Grants with a combined value of $42,000 are being offered to artists and creatives with a strong connection to the G21 region as part of the Geelong Arts Centre Creative Engine 2022.

Applications for the grants, which are designed to support local artists in the development of new work, are now open and will close at 5pm on Friday February 18.

To be successful, applicants must demonstrate an ability to meet the program’s three selection criteria of Connection, Innovation and Thoughtfulness. First Nations artists, artists of diverse backgrounds and artists with disabilities are being strongly encouraged to apply.

Six grant packages are being offered. There are two Ignition packages of $5,000 plus 76 hours in-kind studio access and mentoring opportunities. Two Jump Start packages include $1,000 plus 38 hours in-kind studio access. And two Place to Make packages are for 38 hours of in-kind studio access.

Applications are welcomed from practising artists across all artforms, and cross-genre projects are highly encouraged.

Details regarding the application process and eligibility requirements can be found on the Creative Engine website.
