What makes someone love their neighbourhood? According to the results of our global Time Out City Index, the #1 factor in predicting whether people say they love the area they live is access to great places to drink.
And what’s their local most likely to be? A pub. Pubs play a central role in Australian life. They’re where connections are made, or re-established. When a pub is working well, it celebrates and champions the creativity and culture of the communities it sits within. We see that celebration, and we want to say hooray right back.
Time Out wants to reflect the broad-ranging impact of pub life in Australia, which is why this year, in line with our Pub Awards, we will be launching our first ever special pub themed issue of Time Out Sydney and Time Out Melbourne. This Pub Issue will feature pub-integration throughout the magazine, reflecting the role of pubs in everything from community participation to art, music, theatre, education and more.
