Time Out’s editors are looking beyond the pandemic to great things happening in our cities this year
Time Out spent a large chunk of 2020 as Time In, so it’s no wonder our teams are looking eagerly ahead to major events outside of the home this year.
In Melbourne, Rebecca includes on her highlights list the Moulin Rouge stage musical, the opening of Spotswood’s new food precinct Grazeland, and a new triceratops skeleton at Melbourne Museum.
The merging of Melbourne Festival and White Night into the Rising Festival had to be postponed in 2020, but Rebecca cautiously expects it to come to fruition in May.
Meanwhile in Sydney, Divya cites a Matisse exhibition from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, hit musical Hamilton, and the openings of the brand new W Hotel Darling Harbour and the Ace Hotel in Surry Hills as events to look forward to. The return of major annual events such as Sculpture by the Sea and Vivid Sydney are also high on her list.
Unsurprisingly, Sydney’s transformation into a 24-hour city gets a mention on Divya’s list, now that the NSW Government’s 24 Hour Economy Strategy is being put into motion.
